Department InformationThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory
Medicine at Indiana University and IU Health Physicians is
comprised of over 250 individuals working together to achieve
success in fulfilling the tripartite mission. The department has
over 100 faculty members with a primary appointment in pathology,
80 of whom are dually employed pathologists and PhD clinical
scientists. Pathology has a combined operating budget of nearly
$60MM, comprised of clinical revenues, foundation funding,
contracts and grants, and various other ancillary funding sources.
The department has a strong footprint in clinical education with
allied health programs in medical laboratory science,
histotechnology and cytotechnology. In addition to teaching medical
students, each year the department trains 22 pathology residents
and approximately 15 fellows training in the 12 different
subspecialty fellowships within the department.The pathology
clinical faculty are all dually employed by IU Health Physicians
and Indiana University and support the IU Health system, as well as
Eskenazi Hospital, Roudebush VA Medical Center, and Marion County
Coroner's Office. In addition, the department operates the newborn
screening laboratory for the Indiana State Department of Health.
Departmental revenue and expense flows are complex. The department
is continually increasing research funding and is developing
strategic collaborative initiatives that reach across department
and beyond Indiana University. External funding comprises both
traditional grant funding as well as a sizable industry sponsored
trials portfolio. Job SummaryThe Department of Pathology and
Laboratory Medicine is expanding their administrative team and is
recruiting a financial analyst to manage the financial activity of
the department. Financial analysis, budgeting, reporting,
forecasting, and financial decision making are all activities
germane to this role.Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Develops a financial infrastructure that supports a holistic
understanding of the financial data of the department. General
Responsibilities
- Performs detailed periodic fiscal analysis of income
statements, balance sheets, and cash flows and compiles trends to
guide financial decisions.
- Provides specialized financial analysis support using measures
such as past financial performance, economic conditions, price,
yield, stability, and investment risk.
- Interprets fiscal policies and acts as a resource to
department; may provide guidance to lower-level employees
- May serve as fiscal delegate for department accounts.
- Presents findings using tools such as spreadsheets, charts,
graphs, and technical reports.
- Verifies accuracy of data and makes recommendations for
corrections.QualificationsCombinations of related education and

eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and
in-person work) after the initial training period, subject to

needs.Advertised Salary$62,000-$75,000 per year based on experience
