Job Description:
Analytics Engineer - Decatur, IL This is a salaried,
exempt-level role. Position Overview: The Analytics Engineer –
Manufacturing Cost Excellence role delivers real-time visibility
into losses, predictive insights, and automated improvement
opportunities that directly drive cost reduction and operational
efficiency across ADM's Global Operations network. This position
reports to the Analytics Manager, North America Manufacturing
Analytics and Transformation (A&T). This position integrates
operational, financial, and utilization data into scalable digital
solutions—including Digital Value Stream Mapping (DVSM)—that guide
leadership decision-making and enable plant teams with accurate,
consistent cost and loss insights. Success requires strong
engineering fundamentals, systems thinking, and the ability to
translate analytics into measurable operational and financial
outcomes. The role partners closely with plant operations,
maintenance, finance, and analytics teams to influence behaviors,
ensure consistent cost methodologies, and accelerate continuous
improvement across the enterprise. Key Responsibilities
Engineering, Analytics & Systems Thinking Design and build
end-to-end DVSM systems that connect process flow, equipment
performance, cost structures, and downtime data into a unified view
of loss and value. Apply engineering principles and deep process
understanding to structure data, define system relationships, and
identify the root causes of cost drivers across unit operations.
Build analytical and predictive models that explain and forecast
cost variances, energy intensity, yield loss, and throughput
constraints. Business Outcomes & Financial Impact Translate
analytical findings into actionable recommendations that reduce
losses, lower cost per unit, and improve asset utilization.
Quantify financial impact of improvement opportunities and partner
with operations and finance to validate and track realized value.
Standardize global KPI definitions and cost methodologies to ensure
consistent measurement, benchmarking, and decision making across
sites. Cross?Functional Influence & Change Leadership Serve as a
strategic partner to VP Cost Excellence, Global Operations
leadership, plant operations, technology, and finance, ensuring
adoption and consistent use of cost analytics tools. Facilitate
alignment between OT, IT, engineering, and finance to ensure data
quality, consistency, and integration into business processes.
Train operators, engineers, and leaders on DVSM and loss trees,
building organizational capability in digital cost analytics.
Digital Architecture & Tool Development Build automated loss trees,
opportunity sizing engines, and real?time cost visibility tools.
Execute advanced PI Asset Framework tasks including tag
structuring, calculations, and template development to enable
scalable and reliable analytics. Serve as the primary technical
support contact for Cost Analytics tools and ensure ongoing system
reliability and enhancement. Continuous Improvement & Personal
Development Maintain up-to-date knowledge of manufacturing
processes, analytics technologies, and cost excellence
methodologies. Complete ADM Manufacturing Analytics and Lean Six
Sigma training and participate in additional development based on
skills assessments. Qualifications & Skills Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, or a
related technical field. 5 years of engineering experience in
manufacturing and 2 years of applied analytics experience.
Experience supporting 24/7 manufacturing operations. Technical
Skills Proficiency with the PI Suite/PI AF, including template
development and calculations. Experience with JMP/JMP Live and
strong Microsoft Office skills. Experience building PowerBI
dashboards Strong understanding of key operational metrics,
including OEE, yield, throughput, energy intensity, and cost per
unit. Engineering & Analytical Ability Ability to apply engineering
principles and systems thinking to process data. Experience
developing predictive or explanatory models for cost or performance
outcomes. Experience with Digital Value Stream Mapping (DVSM), cost
modeling, or financial analysis (preferred). Collaboration &
Communication Strong communication skills with the ability to
explain technical concepts to diverse audiences. Proven ability to
collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, IT/OT, and
finance teams. Certifications & Other Requirements Lean Six Sigma
certification (Green Belt/Black Belt) preferred. Commitment to
continuous learning and willingness to complete Business
Improvement training. Willingness to travel to ADM facilities as
needed. The role will be primarily based in Decatur for the
foreseeable future. In coming years, travel may increase up to 25%
