years in Neuro Intensive Care Unit, Level 1 Trauma Experience
License: Must have an Indiana or Compact nursing license in hand or
have submitted their fingerprint application package for the
license Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates
must have NIHSS certification to be considered MUST be flexible
with weekend requirements. Weekend requirements will be based on
unit needs. Travelers must be able to work 50% of the weekends in
their contract. Travelers may be assigned students to shadow them
while on assignment. Travelers should be okay with the possibility
of precepting. If a traveler calls in for a contracted shift, they
are expected to make up for the missed shift. All travelers may be
expected to float to different levels of care as needed. Charge
nurse responsibilities may be required based on operational needs.
Description: The Neuro ICU unit provides care for neuro-critical,
medical, surgical, and trauma ICU patients. The effective
staff-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3. Candidates are required to have
experience in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, ICP
monitoring, and IV starts. Travelers will float within the hospital
or to nearby affiliate hospitals. Candidates must work two out of
three major holidays during their contract. Background checks are
