person, in every interaction Position Summary: The Hospice Art
Therapist provides compassionate, individualized art therapy to
patients and families receiving hospice care. This role supports
emotional expression, coping, and quality of life through creative
engagement. The Art Therapist collaborates with the
interdisciplinary team to align therapy interventions with the
patient’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs during
end-of-life care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide
art therapy sessions to hospice patients and families in home or
facility settings, using creative modalities to promote comfort,
expression, and healing. Customize interventions based on patient
goals, functional ability, and clinical status. Support grief,
loss, and life review through therapeutic art techniques.
Collaborate with the hospice interdisciplinary team to integrate
art therapy into the overall plan of care. Document therapy
sessions and patient/family responses per agency and regulatory
standards. Educate families and caregivers about the purpose and
benefits of art therapy. Maintain appropriate boundaries,
confidentiality, and adherence to HIPAA regulations. Prepare,
clean, and transport art supplies in accordance with infection
control standards. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings,
staff in-services, and professional development. Travel regularly
to patient homes or care facilities across assigned geographic
areas Qualifications: Master’s degree in Art Therapy or related
field from an accredited program required. Registered Art Therapist
(ATR) or Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) preferred. State
licensure or credentialing as required for clinical practice in
Indiana. Minimum of one (1) year experience in art therapy;
hospice, palliative care, or medical setting preferred. Strong
interpersonal, observational, and communication skills. Ability to
work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to a variety
of care environments. Valid driver’s license, reliable
transportation, and current auto insurance required. Working
Conditions & Physical Requirements: Frequent travel to patient
homes or facilities. Requires the ability to sit, stand, bend, and
lift light supplies or materials. Emotional resilience to work with
patients and families facing serious illness, loss, and end-of-life
transitions. Exposure to diverse home environments, including
potential allergens and varying conditions. General Working
Conditions: This position entails standing for long periods of
time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk
and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and
other equipment and objects. The employee is occasionally required
to reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to
review detailed documents and read computer screens. The employee
will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work
environment requires appropriate interaction with others. The noise
level in the work environment is moderate. Occasional travel to
