- Title: Core Room/Molding Supervisor Job Code: - Department: -Core Room/Molding FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: - Plant Manager Supervises: 8-15 hourly - - GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY -Achieves production and quality objectives by executing production schedules, supporting and implementing changes, continuous improvement initiatives, supporting the production systems, operations, and customer satisfaction standards in general to meet productivity and quality goals and specific targets for the Core Room and or Molding areas. -SUMMARY OF JOB - - - - - - - - - - -The Core Room/Molding Supervisor is responsible for the people, machinery, and equipment and building structure for the Core Room/Molding areas. -This person will interact with all functional organizations in the facility and be responsible for ensuring achievement of departmental operational targets. -The Core Room/Molding Supervisor must possess a core understanding of the production processes and systems in the Core Room and Molding areas and demonstrate the ability to learn as well as to instruct and develop others. -The Core Room/Molding Supervisor is responsible for maintaining sufficient levels of raw materials to meet production requirements, the ordering of the raw materials, the maintaining of accurate core inventories and the reporting of month-end inventories. - -The Core Room/Molding Supervisor is responsible for leading and instructing process operators, monitoring production at regular levels to expose problems and see that quality standards are maintained. -He / She will be involved in day to day operations and continuous improvement activities, enforce company rules and regulations and safety rules and regulations. -He /She will establish performance expectations of the departmental employees; observe and evaluate employees in meeting the performance standards. -Ensure that cores and molds meet internal customer specifications. -The Core Room/Molding Supervisor will act in a professional manner and set a positive example by exhibiting leadership qualities including motivating, training, planning, communicating, problem solving and staffing when managing the department. -Perform other job related tasks as assigned. - - - - - - - - - - - - DUTIES STANDARDS Leadership and motivation Mentor and manage performance of direct reports. -Apply problem solving methods - - Training Cross training of employeesComplete training documentation on a timely basis Communications Provide 360 communicationsInteract with internal and external customers effectively both verbally and in writing Safety Maintain safety standards and identify and correct unsafe processes and practicesComplete accident reports and investigations Rule enforcement, awareness and compliance Enforce attendance policy and shop rules.Establish and maintain production standards Perform and support continuous improvement initiatives Identify process improvements to reduce scrap, waste Quality Follow ISO requirements and produce product that meets customer requirements - - - -CLIMATEPromotes team philosophy toward company goals, objectives, concerns, policies and procedures. Deals with the production issues in an intelligent manner to achieve quality and production standards and objectives. Must be self-motivated and requires minimal supervision. -JOB SPECIFICATIONS -SKILLS - - - - - - - -Problem solving - - - - - - - - -Communication - verbal and written - - - - - - - -Interpersonal - - - - - - - - - -Leadership - - - - - - - - -Decision making - - - - - - - - -Priority setting - - - - - - - - -Organizational - - - - - - - - -Analysis - - - - - - - -Statistical and Mathematical - - - - - - - - - - - -KNOWLEDGE - - - - - - - -High School degree or equivalent and five (5) plus years of demonstrated production floor leadership or an Associate's degree in an industrial or manufacturing technology field, business management and two (2) years of production manufacturing experience. - - - - - - - -Advanced knowledge in the following areas: -core making - including cold box - isocure and shell process and molding in a grey iron and ductile iron foundry operations. - - - - - - - -Knowledge of lean production principles. - - - - - - - -A working knowledge of all jobs in the foundry - - - - - - - -Microsoft Office computer applications - - - - - - - -Knowledge or exposure to ISO 9001 quality systems or equivalent. - - - - - - - -Knowledge of safe work practices and OSHA health and safety requirements -PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS -The job works in conditions with frequent exposure (50% - 75%) to noise, odors, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc. -He / she will be physically demanded to stand, walk, and reach in 2/3 of the time. Also, to lift castings between 10 to 50 pounds in 1/3 of the time. (The work is classified as Medium-Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the U.S. Department of Labor's Dictionary of Occupational Titles.
