Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Must have active Illinois license Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required Must-Have: Required Work Setting Experience: Med/Surg. Required Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response Skills. Required Gastrointestinal Case Skills: Colostomy care, Feeding tube care and management. Required IV Therapy/Phlebotomy Skills: Accessing ports, Blood product administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, Starting IVs. Required Medication Experience: Heparin, Insulin, PCA. Required Neurological/Psychiatric Case Skills: CVA, Pre/Post Neuro Surgery, Spinal cord injuries, Traumatic Brain injury. Experience with Surgical drains required. Required Respiratory Case Skills: Chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, Nasal cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Oral suctioning, Oxygen face masks, Portable oxygen tank, Pre/Post Thoracic Surgery, Tracheostomy management. Required Professional Knowledge and Skills: Isolation precautions, Wound care. Continuous bladder irrigation experience required. Cerner experience required. Teaching hospital experience preferred. Trauma Level II experience preferred. Description: The position is for a Medical Surgical Neuro RN. This role offers 3x12 or 4x12 shifts during the night. The average daily census is 32 patients. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience. First-time travelers are not accepted. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Floating may be required within the scope of the facility as needed. Block schedule requests can be discussed with management. Local candidates are accepted without radius restrictions. Candidates must ideally have no more than 5 days of requested time off. The client may call off up to 36 hours during the assignment without compensation for those hours. If more hours are canceled than allowed, charges will apply for those shifts. Special requirements include critical skills in telemetry, remote monitoring, and use of rapid response teams. Required skills also include colostomy care, feeding tube management, IV therapy, and medication administration. Experience with various medical cases such as neurological, respiratory, and gastrointestinal is essential. This role includes patient care for adults and geriatrics with an average of 32 daily admissions. The staffing unit provides interdisciplinary support from various specialties.
